1. Information We Collect

Account information: email address, display name, and Firebase user ID when you sign in with Google or email and password. We do not store your password on our servers.

Session data: a secure HttpOnly cookie that keeps you signed in on the web (typically up to 8 hours).
•
Educational activity: practice and live test answers (including typed text and uploaded answer images), scores, attempt history, progress data, and saved papers or questions.
•
Content you create or upload: question papers, questions, notes, and documents (such as PDF or DOCX files) used for AI paper generation.
•
Public content choices: if you make a paper public, we record that you accepted the applicable public content terms and when you accepted them.
•
Subscription and billing: plan tier, credit balance, usage logs, and payment-related records processed through Razorpay. We do not store full card details.
•
Support and feedback: messages you send through contact forms, feature requests, issue reports, or question error reports. Some forms can be submitted without an account.
•
Device and usage data: browser type, device type, IP address (for security and rate limiting), and how you interact with features.
•
Local storage on your device: preferences such as theme, in-progress exam answers before sync, and similar app state stored in your browser or device.
You can browse many parts of the platform without signing in. In that case we may still collect limited technical data (such as IP address) needed to serve pages and prevent abuse.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:

Provide, maintain, and improve papers, practice, live tests, and AI features

Authenticate you, manage your account, and enforce subscription and premium content access
•
Process payments, subscriptions, and credit purchases through Razorpay
•
Run live test sessions, score answers, and show leaderboards that include display names and scores

Store and display content you choose to make public
•
Respond to support requests, feedback, and error reports
•
Detect abuse, enforce rate limits, and protect platform security
•
Comply with legal obligations and resolve disputes
3. AI and Automated Processing
Several features use artificial intelligence and related cloud services. When you use them, relevant content may be sent for processing, including:

Question paper generation from syllabus selections or uploaded documents
•
Answer explanations shown on questions
•
Practice answer evaluation, including typed answers and images of handwritten work
•
Optical character recognition (OCR) on images in questions or answers
•
Web search to support generation when that feature is used
AI outputs are assistive and may be inaccurate. If you copy a prompt to an external tool (such as ChatGPT), that tool's own terms and privacy policy apply. We are not responsible for how third-party AI tools handle data you paste there.
Uploaded documents: If you upload a file, we process its contents to provide features you request (such as generating questions). Upload only content you are allowed to share. Remove personal details you do not want processed before uploading. We store uploaded files until you delete the related content or your account, subject to our retention rules in Section 8.
4. Data Storage, Security, and Service Providers
We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, secure authentication, and access controls.
Your data is stored and processed using trusted service providers that help us operate the platform, including:

Firebase Authentication (Google) for sign-in

Google Cloud for hosting and operational logging
•
MongoDB and Redis for application data and caching
•
Microsoft Azure services, including cloud storage, document intelligence (OCR), and Azure OpenAI for AI features

Tavily for web search used in some generation flows
These providers process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy obligations. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure.
5. Data Sharing and Public Visibility
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information:

With the service providers listed above, to operate features you use
•
When you make a paper public, so other users and visitors can view it as you intended
•
On live test leaderboards, where your display name and score may be visible to other participants
•
With your consent or at your direction
•
To comply with law, regulation, legal process, or enforceable government request

To protect the rights, safety, and security of BestMocks, our users, or others

In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where required by law
6. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal data, and to withdraw consent where processing is consent-based.

Access and correction: view and update your display name in Account settings. Email is managed through your sign-in provider.
•
Deletion: email us to request account and data deletion. We will process verified requests within a reasonable time, subject to legal retention requirements.
•
Data copy: email us to request an export of personal data we hold about you.
•
Marketing: we do not send promotional email today. If that changes, you will be able to opt out.
•

7. Cookies and Local Storage
On the web we use:

Payment cookies: Razorpay may use cookies during checkout on their domain.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent sign-in from working correctly.
8. Data Retention
We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with law, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. In general:

Account and profile data is kept while your account is active
•
Exam answers, attempts, and scores are kept to support history, results, and leaderboards
•
Uploaded documents and images are kept until you delete the related content or your account, subject to backup and legal holds
•
Payment records are kept as required for tax, accounting, and fraud prevention
•
Support and feedback submissions are kept to handle your request and improve the product
When you request deletion, we delete or anonymize personal data unless we must retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes.
9. Children's Privacy
Our platform is designed for educational use and may be used by students under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information without consent, contact us at hello@bestmocks.com and we will take appropriate steps.

Your information may be stored or processed in India and in other countries where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections with our providers. By using BestMocks, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred across borders as described in this policy.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page and update the "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the platform after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
